AIDS MEMORIAL SCULPTURE - THE CONCEPT

The concept of this large public sculpture is to provide a space for remembering. You can provide an image of a loved one you have lost (or of yourself if you have AIDS and want the community to remember you in this way). A panel will select from the submitted images until enough are available to cover the sculpture partially. The images will be photo-etched in the steel: the little dots made by the photo-etching process are of such clearness and depth that the images will be clearly readable for years and years. One side of the sculpture will remain empty: to remember those of whom we have no records but who were victims of AIDS nonetheless.

As images are submitted they will be posted on this webpage. We feel that the process of making the sculpture and of placing images on it should be public. We encourage all who have lost someone to AIDS or suffer from it to submit images.
